Tuesdays with Morrie

Tuesdays with Morrie

Tuesdays With Morrie is a play adapted from Mitch Albom’s memoir, focusing on the relationship between Mitch, a former student, and Morrie, his beloved professor.
Tuesdays With Morrie celebrates the beauty of human connection, the inevitability of change, and the timeless value of living a meaningful life.
Character breakdown

Morrie  60+, Male. A wise, terminally ill professor who imparts profound life lessons. Retired and battling Lou Gehrig’s disease, he openly embraces his emotions and finds comfort in physical connection.  Morrie was raised Jewish and later became agnostic.
*Requires a strong physical actor, able to convincingly portray Morrie’s physical decline throughout the play, transitioning from mobility to being confined to a wheelchair and eventually bedridden. The role requires an actor with strong stamina for the duration of the performance and the ability to move up and down stairs.

Mitch  30-40s, Male. A successful but unfulfilled journalist, driven solely by his career, finds meaning in life through his reconnection with Morrie—a former college professor he reunites with after 16 years.  Mitch was raised Jewish.
*Piano playing ability is a plus, though not necessary
